K9 Refugio (officially known as Refugio de Animales K9 Tenerife) is a volunteer-run, non-profit animal sanctuary in the south of Tenerife.
Established in 1993, the shelter relies entirely on donations and volunteers to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome abandoned dogs and cats.
I volunteered walking their dogs between 2010 and 2019. K9 Refugio were my first inspiration to consider making dog rescue and rehabilitation a regular part of my life.
If you are visiting Tenerife or live locally, the shelter welcomes visitors and relies heavily on volunteers to help socialize the animals.
Visiting Hours:
Every day of the year from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
You can drop by to walk a dog, cuddle a cat, or simply spend time providing affection to the animals.
